Catching conversations in Jackson’s Point

There were plenty of fish and big ideas at the Painted Perch Festival in Jackson’s Point. Southlake Health joined the annual community celebration with a booth where residents could stop by, say hi, and talk about the future of health care. Throughout the day, Southlake team members shared more with the community about the organization’s vision to become a Distributed Health Network (DHN) over the next decade, including plans to build an Advanced Care Centre in Georgina.

A day of connection

The festival was a great opportunity for Southlake to connect with residents in a fun, relaxed setting. Community members dropped by with questions about the DHN, the Advanced Care Centre, and what expanded access to care could look like for Georgina. Topics covered everything from primary care to mental health services to cancer care. There were even some questions from families with students pursing careers in health care.

Southlake team members were there to hear all feedback and share as many answers as possible.

Conversations with residents are an important part of the planning process and help Southlake understand what matters most to the communities it is privileged to serve. The questions, ideas and feedback shared at the festival will help inform ongoing community engagement as planning continues.

Looking to the future

Southlake’s Distributed Health Network will create a more integrated, sustainable local health care system for generations to come by bringing leading edge care, even closer to home. Looking towards the future, Southlake will continue to engage its communities to help shape the future of care delivery.
